Perfect Time: gene diagnostics algorithm for the future babies.
The number of barren couples is yearly increasing in Hungary, as due to social changes the childbearing is postponed to more later age, when the fertility is decreasing. Today in Hungary there are 150 000 barren couples. For such couples the artificial insemination may be a solution especially the so called test tube-baby program, where embryos coming from laboratory circumstances are implanted into the uterus of the future mother. Although more than 5000 implantations are done yearly, by the current technology less than 1,600 implantation results in pregnancy. The aim of present development is to improve the efficiency of embryo implantation by complex data analysis algorithm.
The efficiency of the embryo implantation depends on several factors, among them the most important is the condition of endometrium. In 20% of cases of endometrial capacity may shift in time, this shift can be detected only in part by the current examinations. The aim of present development is to develop a gene diagnostics procedure, which allows the clinician to customize the implantation of embryos protocol.
The method is based on analysis of data obtained from biomedical systems integrated with laboratory and clinical data and recorded data by patient, as well. The complex data analysis allows the development of a clinical decision-making algorithm, with which the doctor can configure an individual treatment scheme, and the implantation of embryos can be performed in the optimal time.
For the testing of algorithm we create gene expression data within the framework of the project and prepare such a surface that on one hand allow the clinical data recording, on the other hand the recording of the own observations of the patient. We pay particular attention to protection of health data and personal data generated by integrating multiple platforms and to the separate treatment of them, so that the work of the clinician will be best supported by the prepared analyses, and data management will fit maximally on ethical and legal standards.
